Rev. Samwel Chirchir

Rev. Samwel Kirwa Chirchir is a dedicated servant of God and humanity, born on 21st February 1982 in Kapsabet, Nandi County, Kenya. He is a Kenyan national, married, and fluent in English, Kiswahili, and Kalenjin, both in written and spoken forms. With a strong passion for ministry, Rev. Rev. Chirchir’s academic journey began with primary education at Kiminda Primary School, followed by secondary education at Kabikwen Secondary School, where he demonstrated leadership as the Christian Union Chairperson and Clubs Prefect. He further pursued a Diploma in Theology at St. Paul’s University, Limuru, graduating in 2007. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Moi University (2012) and advanced his education with a Master’s degree in Theology from the Protestant Theological University in the Netherlands (2014).

Ordained as a Deacon in 2015 in the Diocese of Eldoret and as a Priest in 2017 in the Diocese of Kapsabet, Rev. Chirchir has served in various capacities. He is currently the treasurer of the National Association of Christian Chaplains (NACC) and a Priest serving with the Anglican Diocese of Kapsabet at All Saints Nandi Hills Parish. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Rift Valley Anglican Dioceses (RIVAD) region and as the Honorary Diocesan Youth Organizer (DYO) and Children’s Ministry Coordinator (DCMC) in the ACK Diocese of Kapsabet. Additionally, he worked as a School Chaplain at St. Matthew’s Group of Schools, Septonok.

Throughout his ministry, Rev. Chirchir has focused on evangelism, guiding and counseling, and character formation. His career highlights include serving as a Missionary Evangelist in Tambach Missionary Area and as a Curate in charge of Youth, Teens, and Children’s Ministry at St. Barnabas Pro-Cathedral, Kapsabet. Beyond ministry, he has been a teacher, farmer, and community leader, exemplifying his versatility and commitment to service.

Rev. Chirchir is passionate about promoting environmental care and the integration of religion and media. He has presented academic papers on these subjects, including “A Constructive Theology Aimed at Promoting Environmental Awareness Among Contemporary Nandi Christians” and “The Fusion of Religion and Media in Kenya: A Case of Sayare Radio Station.”
